Stanley Adventure Quencher: Everything You Need to KnowÂ
At this point, I probably shouldn’t be surprised that water bottles can be trendy.
A few years ago, I remember seeing HydroFlasks in nearly backpack on my university campus. Honestly, you’d kind of be the odd one out if you weren’t sporting a brightly colored HydroFlask covered in stickers. (Though as someone who is indecisive, I never could commit to putting a single sticker on mine haha!)
From a sustainability standpoint, it’s incredible to see so many people opting for an alternative to plastic free bottles.
Even looking back to my high school days about 8 years ago, it was totally normal to carry plastic bottles.
But now, even my parents use reusable water bottles! That says something.
So with many kitchen cupboards and countertops already filled with reusable bottles, you may be wondering if you should add another to your collection.
Well friends, let’s spill the tea. Or rather, should I say pour the tea into Stanely’s 40 oz Adventure Quencher?
Before we get into it, let’s talk basics of the Quencher Tumbler:
- Size: 3.8 inches length x 5.75 inches width x 12.5 inches height
- Weight (empty): 1.4 pounds
Meet the Brand Behind the Bottle: Stanley Brand
Like Starbucks, Nordstrom, and Amazon, Stanley is a household brand based out of Seattle, Washington.
So if you, like me, live in the Pacific Northwest, you can feel good about supporting a local business!
For over 100 years, Stanley has been perfecting insulated steel containers.
Why? To help people enjoy both everyday and exciting adventures a little more by taking their favorite hot and cold snacks with them.
It’s the little things, right?

How did the Stanley Adventure Quencher Travel Tumbler go viral?
To my surprise, it’s no mystery how the bottle became Instagram and TikTok famous.
The New York Times wrote an article telling the story, and it’s quite fascinating!
Long story short, it happened more because of blogger influence and customer demand than it did by Stanley’s marketing efforts.
Who says influencers aren’t important?!
Review: Weighing the Pros & Cons
While there’s some major reasons to love the bottle, it’s simply not the best option for every occasion.
But, does that mean you shouldn’t buy it? Here are the pros and cons so you can decide for yourself.
Pros
- Fits into car cup holders (rare for comparable 40z bottles like HydroFlasks)
- The $40 price tag is $9.95 less than a 40 oz HydroFlask
- Aesthetically pleasing with a modern style and trendy pastel colors
- Dishwasher safe
- Constructed with durable stainless steel
- Its large size means less refills (40 ounces is equivalent to 5 cups)
- Keeps hot drinks hot. In fact, I found that it even outlasts Stanley’s 7-hour claim when I tested it. Really, it kept my drink hot for around 9-10 hours.
- Keeps cold drinks cold for around 12 hours if filled with ~â…” full with ice and kept out of direct sunlight
- *Because of the clear lid & straw opening, ice melts quicker when the bottle is in the sun. So if I’m running errands, I move the bottle out of the sun when parked. Not a deal breaker though!
- Multiple ways to drink – either with a straw or without (To do this, rotate the colored bar on the lid to reveal the sipping hole)
- Side handle with grip makes for an easy carry
- Plastic free packaging
- Lifetime Warranty (Built for Life Warranty)
Cons
- Leaks from the straw area are common when the bottle isn’t in the upright position. Something to keep in mind while packing up the car or if you have large dogs or kinds who often knock things off tables! UPDATE: Stanley has upgraded the design to include silicone seal around the straw opening. While water may still escape if tilted, this is big improvement!
- When completely full, this bottle is noticeably heavy!
- Lack of top handle
- Does not fit well into hiking or day trip backpacks
- Does not keep cool drinks and ice for quite as long as my HydroFlasks (again, probably because of the lid & straw)
When would I recommend using it?
Hands down, the 40 oz cup is best while traveling in the car. It’s a match made in heaven for road trips and errands.
Also, it’s great for at-home workouts. This way, I never have to interrupt a workout for refills. Plus, I’ve been more motivated to hydrate throughout the day while using this!
In fact, filling up my bottle has become part of my morning routine.
When would I recommend not using it?
For any time when I’m active outside of the house, such as running or hiking, I prefer a bottle with a sleeker design. So, because it isn’t the easiest to hold onto or slip into a backpack, my Stanley just doesn’t cut it.
Also, if I’m going camping for a few days and want to have ice water, I will pack my Stanley. However, it’s not the only one I pack. Because of the straw, this bottle tends to not keep water cold for as long and is just more challenging to store since it has to stay upright.
Where to Buy the Adventure Quencher Tumbler
In early July, I purchased the Stanley Adventure Quencher 40oz in Shrub and Driftwood.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve likely seen me using them in my stories!
Since these are on-trend in 2022, you’ll want to watch for restocks. Here’s how:
- Follow Stanley on Instagram. In my case, they announced a restock 5 days in advance through an in-feed post. Generally, restocks happen at 9 am Pacific Time and include all 11 colors – and sometimes new launches.
- If you really, really don’t want to miss your next opportunity to purchase, I recommend going to Stanley’s Instagram profile and clicking the bell icon in the upper left corner. When you do, you’ll be able to be notified when Stanley posts.
- Are you more of an email person? Go to the product page and sign up for restock notifications.

Can you believe I got them on my first try?!
Having heard lots of stories about how quickly restocks sold out, I had a plan and was prepared with the Stanley site open on my laptop and iPhone.
Although the whole process took longer than usual checkouts, it only took around 5-7 minutes. I had been bracing myself for more haha!
After adding items to your cart you are then put in a waiting line to check out. In the meantime, I’ve heard that it’s possible that people in line before you could cause your selections to run out of stock.
Luckily, I had no issue completing checkout.
Besides Stanley’s website, you can also shop online from Williams Sonoma. Of all the websites, they seem to have them in stock the most consistently.
For the widest range of color options available, however, you can’t beat shopping direct from Stanley.
Pro Tip: Generally, you’ll probably end up washing the straws more often than the bottle. So for less hassle, purchase a pack of straws you can rotate through during the week and toss in the dishwasher.
