I Tried the Merry People Billie Clog, and Now I Need Every Color (Review)
If you live somewhere as wet as the Pacific Northwest, there’s a good chance you’ve picked up a pair of rain boots at some point. And I don’t mean hiking shoes or Blundstones, I mean 100% rubber gumboots. Traditional rain boots, but in eye-catching colors that make gray days a little more fun. (Because life is serious enough as it is.)
Over the last few years, I’ve added a few pairs of Merry People rain boots to my closet, and when I saw they had released a clog version, I immediately knew I had to try them.
So, welcome to my Merry People Billie Clog review. After wearing these shoes almost daily for a month, I’m sharing everything you need to know about fit, comfort, sizing, and whether they’re worth adding to your closet.

Why I Wanted to Try the Merry People Billie Clog

The Billie Clog takes inspiration from Merry People’s original Bobbi Rain Boot, swapping the ankle-height silhouette for an easy slip-on design with an open back.
Since I already loved my Bobbi and Tully boots, I was curious whether the clogs would live up to the hype.
As someone who prioritizes comfort and practicality, I simply won’t keep shoes around if they hurt my feet—even if they’re cute. And because I spend a lot of time outdoors, I need footwear that can handle muddy trails, rainy dog walks, gardening projects, and spontaneous adventures without requiring special care.
Plus, every dog mom knows the importance of having a reliable pair of “back door shoes” ready for those quick potty breaks.
First Impressions
Right out of the box, the Merry People Billie Clogs felt thoughtfully designed.
A few things stood out immediately:
- Beautiful packaging, complete with tissue paper and a thank-you note from founder Dani
- Care instructions included on the back of the note
- Premium feel with a substantial (but not heavy) weight
- Soft 4mm neoprene lining
- Built-in arch support and removable insoles
- Enhanced traction sole for slippery conditions
- A subtle heel that adds style without sacrificing comfort
Overall, they felt more supportive and made-to-last than most clogs I’ve tried.
Fit & Sizing
Since Merry People is an Australian brand, I highly recommend double-checking the size chart before ordering.
Personally, I found the Billie Clogs fit slightly larger than my Merry People boots.
For reference, I typically wear a US women’s 7.5–8 and wear an EU 39 in my Bobbi boots. While the EU 39 worked in the Billie Clogs, they felt just a little roomy in the heel.
Because I like wearing thick wool socks, the extra space didn’t bother me. However, if you have narrow feet or plan to wear them mostly barefoot, I’d recommend sizing down.
As for width, the Billie Clogs are only available in a standard width, but the roomy toe box provides plenty of space. I suspect many people with wider feet will find them comfortable as well.

How Comfortable Are the Merry People Billie Clogs?
One thing I’ve consistently loved about Merry People’s natural rubber footwear is that there’s virtually no break-in period.
The Billie Clogs were comfortable from day one.
I’ve been especially impressed by the support. In many of my walking shoes, I swap out the insoles for additional cushioning and arch support, but I haven’t felt the need to do that here.
Thankfully, I’ve also experienced zero rubbing or blisters.
The only comfort-related note is that the natural rubber and neoprene lining can feel a little warm when worn barefoot on hot days. Personally, I prefer styling them with cute socks anyway, so this hasn’t been much of an issue.

How I’ve Been Using My Billie Clogs
One of my favorite things about the Merry People Billie Clog is how versatile it is.
So far, I’ve worn mine for:
- Walking Lilo around the neighborhood
- Running errands around town
- Gardening projects
- Beach days
- Camping trips
- Road trips
- Flying and airport travel
- Everyday chores around the house
They’re the kind of shoe you find yourself reaching for over and over again because they’re comfortable, practical, and easy to slip on.

Who I’d Recommend the Merry People Billie Clog To
If you’re looking for an everyday shoe that can handle wet weather, muddy adventures, and a little bit of chaos while still looking cute, I genuinely can’t recommend these enough.
I think they’re especially perfect for:
- Dog moms
- Campers
- Travelers
- Gardeners
- Anyone living in a rainy climate
- People who want comfortable shoes without sacrificing style
These are the shoes you’ll actually look forward to putting on before heading out the door.
Final Thoughts
After spending a month testing them, I can confidently say the Merry People Billie Clog has earned a permanent place in my shoe rotation.
Honestly, my biggest problem now is figuring out where to store more pairs…
The waterproof construction, thoughtful comfort features, and fun color options make them incredibly easy to love. They’re practical enough for everyday life but stylish enough that I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing fashion for function.
In fact, I already know these are going to become one of my go-to gift ideas for birthdays and holidays. They’re one of those rare products that feel genuinely useful while still being fun to receive.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Merry People Billie Clog
Are Merry People Billie Clogs waterproof?
Yes! One of the things I love most about the Merry People Billie Clog is that it’s 100% waterproof. The natural rubber exterior keeps your feet dry through rainy walks, muddy gardens, puddle splashes, and everyday wet-weather adventures.
Does the Billie Clog run true to size?
In my experience, the Billie Clogs run slightly larger than Merry People’s boots. I typically wear an EU 39 in my Bobbi boots, but found the same size a little roomy in the clogs.
If you’re between sizes, have narrow feet, or plan to wear them barefoot, I’d recommend sizing down. If you love wearing thick socks (especially in winter), you may appreciate the extra room.
Are they comfortable?
Absolutely. I found them comfortable right out of the box with no break-in period required. They feature built-in arch support, removable insoles, and a cushioned neoprene lining that makes them more supportive than many clogs I’ve worn.
After a month of frequent wear, I’ve had no issues with rubbing, blisters, or sore feet.
Can you wear Merry People Billie Clogs for long walks?
While I wouldn’t choose them for a strenuous hike, I’ve found them great for everyday walking. I’ve comfortably worn mine for dog walks, errands, sightseeing while traveling, and full days on my feet.
I think they’d be fine on short, flat dirt trails. (Flat being key here, because you don’t want then o slide off!)
Does the design work for wide feet?
The Billie Clogs are only available in a standard width, but they have a generously sized toe box. While everyone’s feet are different, I think many people with slightly wider feet will find them comfortable.
Are Merry People Billie Clogs worth it?
For me, yes. The combination of comfort, waterproof protection, durability, and style makes them a shoe I reach for constantly. If you live somewhere rainy, spend time outdoors, have a dog, love gardening, or simply want an easy everyday shoe, I think the Billie Clogs are well worth considering.
